A grand poem that - how just how was he able to feel so deeply and put that on display for us? (only Ted Hughes was on a similar plane as far as I have known)

There’s a good poem by Fiona Broadhurst called “Units of measurement” in the latest copy of ‘Rebel Poetry’

- Along with your your cry for curiosity, passion & outrage in a person she has similar sentiments in a viewed, questioned and felt sense, as the answers are adverse enough for her to frame her thoughts as powerfully on the page as she must do in her everyday life.

Yes! And Ted Hughes is another favourite of mine.

I can’t find Fiona’s poem online - I’m not sure if you’re able to share it in the comments here, but feel free to! Thanks Bruce

Units of measurement by Fiona Broadhurst

_____________________________________

How do you measure worth?

Is it in KPI’s, or speed?

Is it in willingness, or compliance?

Is it in clients, or years of service?

Is it in pay grade, or how a body is valued?

Is it in fuck-ups, or in papering over cracks?

Is it in the stock market, or the rate of inflation?

I know my worth,

I measure it in compassion

& in the depth of my love,

I balance it against feathers

& break scales with the weight of it,

I measure it not against others,

but against myself & how actions stand true with beliefs,

I measure it in empathy,

hold it close to my chest to feel it’s warmth

& know how much value it holds,

Can you say the same?

Thanks for sharing. The “depth of love” - what a great unit of measurement
