What shape is life? Surely a spiral. And also, maybe, that’s the shape of a book too. A returning to places and people and questions as the narrative unfurls and winds.

Ooo yes, a spiral. Thanks! I recently read Jeff Chu's book Good Soil, and at the outset he explains that he writes in the shape of Chinese storytelling, which often circles its subject again and again rather than follow neat lines like Western storytelling often does.
